Hazchem Inchoate and the Road to Hell.
“Are you sure you want to do that?”
“Use a good title like that this early.”
Well, I’ve written it now.
“This is very Deadpool.”
The fourth wall violation? It’s very Duck Amuck.
“You don’t find it odd? That I’m talking to you?”
Not really – this is just a dream…
Hazchem Inchoate and the Digger of Narcissus.
And in my dream, the coyote wore the face of my grandmother. The coyote is the trickster, god, or spirit. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, always a trickster. Not always a moral to the story – he (generally a he) sometimes does things solely for shits and giggles.
Wants to watch parts of the world burn.
He gestured with his head at the mountain – no longer wearing my grandmother’s face, and clearly male. His coyote face curled into a grin that looked like a bad photoshop of bonus teeth.
I looked up, saw smoke signals coming from beyond.
I climbed the mountain, it was instantaneous and yet it took forever. My muscles ached when I reached the top.
Apparently I couldn’t read them from below. Dreams… The smoke said “Help me, Hazchem Inchoate, you’re my only hope” then glitched and began again.
Across a deep ravine, too wide to jump, Echo stood, using Aladdin’s flying blanket rug thing to generate the smoke. She was wearing the white princess Leia outfit. With moccasins.
My grandmother climbed out of a comically undersized cliched teepee, put a blanket over her shoulders, sat her down, gave her a drink.
She then looked directly at me.
The coyote howled atop the mountain.
Dreams are strange, sometimes you know you are in one, sometimes they feel so real, sometimes, it’s both. This one, felt like a message – although I wasn’t sure if I understood what it was trying to say – in fact, I wasn’t convinced that it even was a message, just a dream that felt like a message. Which, could go either way…
Not helping was the fact that I knew that when I opened my eyes, I’d be greeted by a mostly empty bottle nestled into my pillow.
I did. I was right.
I got up, my grandmother had given me a dreamcatcher ‘for another time’, I dug it out of the attic, went out, hung it on Echo’s door in the darkness.
